Video research workspace

Mark the range.
Keep the context.
Build the handoff.

FootageMark is a local-first Chrome Side Panel workspace for researchers, producers, and editors who collect useful ranges from recorded web videos. Set an In point, set an Out point, add context, then turn clips from multiple sources into one editor-ready Source Pack.

No account · No backend · No analytics · No ads · No AI APIs · Local project storage

What it does

A narrow tool for a real handoff problem.

FootageMark does not download video, discover clips with AI, or try to replace an editor. It keeps exact browser-media ranges, source context, and clip order organized so the next person can work from a cleaner brief.

[ ]

Set In / Set Out

Capture the real media playback position at the moment you mark the start and end of a useful range.

⌘

Fast keyboard capture

Use [ and ] when the video page or Side Panel has focus, with Chrome command fallbacks Alt+Z and Alt+X.

3

Up to three projects

The free v1.0.0 workspace keeps up to three local projects, each with multiple source videos and collected clips.

↕

Reorder for the edit

New clips appear at the top, then can be moved up or down to set the Source Pack order you actually want to hand off.

TXT

Source Pack + exports

Preview and copy a structured Source Pack, or export Markdown and CSV. JSON backup and restore keep the local workspace portable.

⌂

Local-first

Projects, source metadata, clip ranges, types, notes, and order are stored in Chrome local extension storage rather than a FootageMark backend.

The workflow

From useful moment to usable source pack.

Open a supported recorded video

FootageMark v1.0.0 is designed for YouTube standard watch videos, Vimeo recorded videos with compatible HTML5 playback, and Rumble recorded video pages.

Mark the range

Press [ to set In and ] to finish the clip, or use the Side Panel controls.

Add editor context

Choose a clip type such as Quote, B-roll, Evidence, Hook, Reaction, or Reference, then add an optional note.

Build the handoff

Reorder clips, preview the Source Pack, copy it, or export Markdown / CSV. Back up the workspace as JSON when needed.

Supported scope

Specific integrations, not vague “works everywhere” claims.

Player implementations change, so FootageMark only advertises platforms that have explicit integration paths in v1.0.0.

YouTube

Standard recorded watch videos. Public open links can point near a clip start where FootageMark trusts the URL format.

Vimeo

Recorded videos where a compatible HTML5 video element is available to the current integration.

Rumble

Recorded video pages using the supported page pattern. Website changes can affect compatibility over time.

Not advertised as supported in v1.0.0: live streams, Twitch VOD, Dailymotion, CHZZK, and arbitrary “all HTML5 video” pages. FootageMark does not make frame-accurate NLE timecode claims and does not download video.
