Support

Practical help for capture, shortcuts, supported sites, local projects, exports, and backup/restore.

No compatible recorded video is detected

  1. Confirm you are on a recorded video rather than a live stream.
  2. Use a YouTube standard watch page, compatible Vimeo recorded page, or Rumble recorded video page.
  3. Reload the page after installing or updating the extension.
  4. If the site recently changed its player, compatibility may require a FootageMark update.

[ / ] do not respond

  1. Click the video page or the FootageMark Side Panel so it owns keyboard focus.
  2. If focus is on Chrome UI such as the tab strip, use Alt+Z / Alt+X.
  3. Check Chrome extension shortcut settings if the backup commands were remapped.
  4. Remember that OS or browser shortcuts can override extension commands.

The visible timer and captured point look slightly different

The on-screen timer is rendered smoothly between authoritative media samples. Clip capture itself reads the real media playback position when the action occurs. The stored In/Out values are the source of truth.

A backup will not restore

  1. Use a JSON backup exported by FootageMark.
  2. Do not manually remove required collections or identifiers.
  3. The current free version cannot restore a backup that exceeds the three-project limit.
  4. If an older backup fails, include the error message when contacting support.
Does FootageMark download video?
No. It stores source metadata, timestamps, clip types, notes, ordering, and project data. Source Packs and exports are organizational metadata and text, not downloaded video media.
Does FootageMark require an account?
No account is required in v1.0.0. Project data is stored in chrome.storage.local on the user’s device.
Does FootageMark support live streams?
No. Live streams are intentionally excluded because their timeline semantics differ from fixed-duration recorded media.
Why are Twitch VOD, Dailymotion, and CHZZK not listed as supported?
The current release only advertises integrations that match the verified v1.0.0 scope. Those platforms require dedicated compatibility work before they should be marketed as supported.
Is the timing frame-accurate?
FootageMark records browser media playback positions at the capture action, but it does not claim frame-accurate NLE timecode.
How many projects can I keep?
The free v1.0.0 release supports up to three local projects.
